MODERN ANNIVERSARY GIFT LIST
This list has gifts for all wedding anniversaries up to the 25th, then every 5 years from thereon. It is probably the easiest list to get ideas for and is definitely contemporary.
SECOND YEAR - CHINA
In the second year of marriage, entertaining is probably front of mind. Why not get a nice dinner set? Alternatively, you could keep it small and get a nice figurine. Look for some nice china ideas on Amazon: Australia | Canada | US

You could be a bit clever and go to China or even to a Chinese restaurant!
You could follow on with the entertainment theme from the second year or alternatively go with something smaller like a crystal figurine (you don't want to give too many figurines along your journey, unless your partner is into collections!). FOURTH YEAR - APPLIANCES (ELECTRICAL)
You could go nuts on this one and satisfy both partners if you play your cards right. For example, a capsule coffee machine, a fancy kettle, big screen TV, fridge. Otherwise something specific such as a hairdryer, curling iron. This is a good one with lots of options, but choosing the right one may be a bit difficult. You could combine this with the Traditional UK list (fruit) and get a chocolate fondue set and have a romantic dinner/desert.
FIFTH YEAR - SILVERWARE
By now you may be getting sick and tired of the entertainment theme, so why not think outside the square and get something silver but for another purpose (even though silver is technically a 25th anniversary gift)? If you're still happy with the silverware, then go for it!

Silver jewellery may be a good option.
You could try to combine this with the jewellery list (Sapphire).
SIXTH YEAR - WOOD OBJECTS
This year, why not try something different and make your partner something out of wood. Other ideas can be those statues from Willow Tree, bookshelves or anything wood!

SEVENTH YEAR - DESK SETS / PENS AND PENCIL SETS
This is good for the pen and/or stationery lover. You could go nuts at places like Smiggle, Officeworks and other stationery stores. Don't forget that you can get custom pens made up at places like Vistaprint with caricatures printed on the side along with personalised notepads, magnets and other stationery. Let your imagination run wild!
Alternatively, you could go big and get a custom desk made or a simple one from Ikea, but decked out with stationery.

EIGHTH YEAR - LINEN / LACE
If you haven't got something linen for your 4th anniversary (Traditional US list), you could get nice bedding and perhaps from a significant hotel you have stayed at.
The alternative is lace, which could be anything from doileys (antique coffee mats), table cloths to intimate clothing. You could also get lace necklaces and other smaller lace goods.
NINTH YEAR - LEATHER
If you haven't already got a leather item from the 3rd anniversary (Traditional US and UK), then you could follow those suggestions. That is, leather clothing like jackets, belts, skirts, pants, etc.
Alternatively you could go hell for leather and go to a rodeo.

TENTH YEAR - DIAMOND JEWELLERY
Diamond Jewellery. Not much more to say other than shop around and look for something unique; there are other Diamond anniversaries in the future - 11th (on the actual Jewellery list) and hopefully you can make it to your 60th (Traditional US and again in the Jewellery list), 75th, 80th, 85th and 90th (all from the Modern list).

FIFTEENTH YEAR - WATCHES
You can go all out on this one with some very nice options from the big watch makers like Rolex, Omega, Guess, etc. If you've got the time and money, you could see if you can get a custom made watch with Ruby stones.

TWENTIETH YEAR - PLATINUM
There are many jewellery options with Platinum and you could combine it with the jewellery list gift of Emerald. You could also look for Platinum collectibles.
Alternatively, there are a number of memberships out there with "Platinum", such as online services and sporting clubs. There are also Platinum packages such as the MCG - AFL Premiership Club Dining Packages.

TWENTY FIFTH YEAR - SILVER
There are a number of options for Silver with the most obvious being jewellery.
Other options can be silver cutlery (if you haven't already got some from your 5th anniversary) and other silver goods like antiques.
If travel is an interest, why not take them to a place with Silver in the name? If comics and characters are an interest, why not the Silver Surfer in pure silver? How about a Silver car (Aston Martins are nice :)?
Use your imagination and make sure that it will last and be memorable.

THIRTIETH YEAR - DIAMOND
Diamond. A very common theme among all the lists. Plenty of jewellery options with this one, such as another watch but this time diamond studded, necklaces, bracelets, rings, earrings, etc.
An alternative is to go to a Neil Diamond concert or a cruise on the Diamond princess.

FORTIETH YEAR - RUBY
There are a few options for Ruby with the most obvious being jewellery. If Ruby was a choice from your 15th anniversary (Jewellery list), try to get something a little different!
If travel is an interest, why not take them on the Ruby Princess for a Cruise?
Ps. If you forgot to get a gift for your 35th anniversary, Ruby and Emerald go well together on a ring or other jewellery!

FORTY FIFTH YEAR - SAPPHIRE
Sapphire comes in a range of jewellery options. If you got Sapphire jewellery on your 5th anniversary (Jewellery list), then get something different!
If travel is an interest, the Sapphire Princess cruise ship may be an option. Otherwise you could always go to your favourite restaurant and organise flowers (as in the case of other anniversary suggestions); try Gladiolus (40th anniversary in flowers) for a low allergen option.
An alternative is to curl up and cuddle on the sofa watching "The Sapphires".
FIFTIETH YEAR - GOLD
There are many options with Gold. Jewellery being the most obvious, but plenty of other items and collectibles come in Gold too. If Gold was a choice from your 1st anniversary (Jewellery list) or 14th anniversary (this list), try to get something a little different!
What about a nice gold leaf cake at your 50th dinner, along with the Gold gift and yellow roses and violets.
If you forgot your 40th and 45th anniversary, ruby and sapphire along with white gold work well!
FIFTY FIFTH YEAR - EMERALD
If you haven't already got Emerald from your 35th anniversary (Jewellery list), then here's the gift for you! There are a number of options for Emerald, including the obvious - Jewellery. Other options are hand-made goods like figurines and statues.

SIXTIETH YEAR - DIAMOND
Diamonds are a staple of the anniversary and general gift lists all over the world. Try to think right outside the box on this one as I'm sure diamonds have been part of previous gifts. Go to a jeweller who can custom-make items, not just rings.

SIXTY FIFTH YEAR - BLUE SAPPHIRE
Blue Sapphire is a relatively common gemstone, but, make sure that whatever you get, it's nowhere near common!

SEVENTIETH YEAR - PLATINUM
If you haven't already got something platinum from your 20th anniversary or want to get something else, platinum is a relatively easy thing to get made up in jewellery.
Alternatives are to join and/or go to "Platinum" memberships or clubs (like at the MCG).

Diamond and Gold gifts scattered throughout the previous years' lists. Thinking of something very different at this stage may be a little difficult, so you could revert to a more traditional approach with rings, bracelets or necklaces.
An alternative is to go on a cruise on the Diamond Princess or something along those lines.

Diamonds and Pearls are a good combination. Make sure you don't overlap with what you may have got from previous anniversaries! A Pearl necklace always goes well and Diamonds in any shape or form are a good bet.
Alternatively, you could go on that cruise you've been waiting for on the Diamond Princess.
